Classroom training at our Edison Warehouse videos will be

Our philosophy on training is that staff development and training is ongoing,
and never stops. We want all of our staff to be trained in CPR and First Aid,
though we hope you never need to use it! Please give us copies of whatever
certifications you have. Even our owners continue their training and development
by joining professional organizations related to this business, upgrading their
certifications and taking the time to visit the specific manufacturers we use,
or consider using. Principals of our company also attend annual conventions
related to the amusement industry.
Thanks for doing our staff training with us. We stand out from the competition
and it is because of you! Thanks for helping us whenever we need you!
You can be proud to work with our company! We are very careful about how we
do business and use the Disney Corporation and the National YMCA as our role
models. WE hold ourselves to a higher standard! We donate too, read about our
Good Neighbor Award, and you can recommend people/organizations for this award
too.
Here is a quote every customer receives from us;
"We are good at what we do, so our products and services book fast! We
understand that though we may be booking many parties on your date, you are
booking one, and as far as you are concerned, your party is the most important
one on that date. We agree. Call or email us, any time day or night and we will
make time for you and your party plans."
Here is a little story from one of our renter's who took the Air Castles
And Slides' on line training program;
I
just wanted to say thank you for such a professional and well run company. The
rental process was easy, efficient and well worth it. The online training was
very helpful. I read the material and thankfully was well prepared when we
lost power. The castle began to deflate and parents panicked. However, as a
Certified Supervisor (which I bragged about the entire party),
I was able to keep the parents calm while having enough time to get the kids
out safely. Prior to the outage, parents teased that I had to take a test and
I was so serious about my whistle, after the incident, we all appreciated my
ability to handle the situation calmly.
Thanks again, the castle was a huge success.

Tips are a way that a customer lets you know that you did above and beyond
what they expected of you. We provide a fun and safe environment for their
children, BUT you make the difference in the experience they have.
5 Ways to Be Fun or It's the little things that mean so much.
- Smile a lot
No matter if, or how behind you are, remember that every customer is
important. You may deliver 4 or 5 moonwalks today, but they are only getting
one, and they are excited about it!
- Talk to the kids
The kids are what make our jobs possible. Sometimes they are overexcited to
the point of insanity, but showing them a little attention not only makes
their day happier, it reminds you of why this is such a wonderful business
to be in. Parents who observe you being nice to their kids are much more
likely to recommend our company to other parents, and tip you.
- Bring a Little Something Extra for the Birthday Child
We provide a gift for the birthday child and siblings. Will they remember
you? You bet!
- Tell Jokes
You don't have to be original- find 4-5 jokes that work for you and while
you are setting up, tell them to the kids who are anxiously waiting to start
bouncing.
-
Bring a Little Something Extra for the Parents
We also provide whistles, certificates and pens for the parents, remember to
give them to the parents along with a few business cards for their family and
friends. Mention that anyone who uses their name to rent from us gets a $25.00
discount.
Why Worry About Being Fun?
- It's Good for YOU!
Staying positive and acting happy (even when you are stressed) actually
helps to relieve stress. Often you can turn a bad mood around when you see
the delighted reactions of the children and family at the event. This can be
a stressful business- focusing on fun helps to keep you motivated.
- It's Good for Business!
In a family-oriented business, personal impressions count for a lot. Being
fun can make the difference between a "yeah, we had a moonwalk for the
party" and a "you have GOT to get your next moonwalk from this company, they
are great!"
- Tell them your name, they may ask for you next time!
WE promise great service and then we go the extra mile to deliver the fun!
You are a very important part of our team. We want to take a moment to
acknowledge and appreciate Outstanding team members, who go above and beyond,
consistently. Here are our current MVP team members:

Here are several more incidents
in the news;
Inflatable ride blown away with children inside
(Saturday,
April 9, 2005) - In Sahuarita, Arizona, an inflatable ride was carried away in
strong winds with a 5-year-old girl and her 22-month-old sister inside. The
girls suffered only minor injuries.
The girls' parents rented the ride
-- an inflatable castle in which children bounce and play. They say that the
release form that they signed warned of the dangers that high winds pose to
inflatable rides, but that they never read the paperwork. They say that the
rental company, C&J Party Rental, should have warned them verbally.
Inflatable slide tips over at Texas carnival; 4 injured
(Saturday,
March 25, 2000) - At a carnival in Rockwall, Texas, four people were injured
after an inflatable ride tipped over.
On Sunday, carnival workers refused
to tell reporters who was responsible for the ride, a portable and inflatable
slide, however, the name Kaiser Rides appeared on at least one of the trailers
in the lot. Workers also told reporters that they did not want any pictures to
be taken at the scene. The ride had already been dismantled and was not visible
on site.
The carnival packed up and left
Rockwall on Sunday night.
Inflatable ride collapses at fair; 5 injured
(Friday,
June 2, 2000) - At a carnival at Sherwood Park in Alberta, Canada, five
teenagers were injured after an inflatable ride collapsed. The ride, a portable,
inflatable slide, is a replica of the Titanic. It allows riders to slide down
what is made to look like the deck of the ship as it sank into the ocean.
All five teens were taken to a local
hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Eyewitnesses say the accident is a
result of the teens' rowdy behavior. The Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement
Rides Safety Association is investigating.
One killed, 12 injured in inflatable ride accident
(Monday,
March 11, 2001) - An 8-year-old girl has died from massive head injuries she
received when an inflatable ride detatched from its grounding cables and flew up
into the air. The accident happened at a carnival in Kapunda, Australia on
Sunday.
Officials say that a strong, freak
gust of wind lifted the ride about 10 feet into the air, and that they will
focus their investigation on the cables used to secure the ride to the ground.
Twelve other people were also
injured in the accident, including 11 children, five of whom remain
hospitalized.
The South Australian Workplace
Services department is issuing an alert to other amusement ride operators,
warning them of the potential dangers that changes in weather conditions can
have on inflatable rides.
Another inflatable ride collapses; 9 children injured
(Monday, May
21, 2001) - At a carnival in Charlotte, North Carolina, nine children were
injured after an inflatable slide collapsed. Most of the children landed in the
parking lot or on top of each other and received only minor injuries.
The ride, called the Titanic, is
owned by Master Rental of Asheville, North Carolina.
The North Carolina Department of
Labor is investigating the accident.
Inflatable ride tips over at Michigan carnival; 2 children
injured
(Sunday,
June 24, 2001) - At a carnival in Canton Township, Michigan, two children were
injured after an inflatable ride tipped over. The ride was not secured to the
ground.
The children's injuries included a
broken wrist, cuts and bruises.
Another inflatable ride accident; 4 injured
(Sunday, July 15, 2001)
- At the Magdalena Oldtimers Rodeo in Magdalena, New Mexico, an inflatable
children's ride was blown about 30 feet into the air, injuring four children.
The accident may have been caused by sudden high winds, however investigators
are questioning whether the ride was properly anchored. Another inflatable ride
collapses; 5 injured
Another inflatable Titanic ride accident; 2 injured
(Sunday,
August 19, 2001) - At the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, Canada, two
children were injured in a 12-foot fall from an inflatable slide called the
Titanic. The children, ages 3 and 8, fell over the side of the ride on their way
down and hit the ground.
The accident is under investigation.
The have been at least six accidents
involving Titanic inflatables in the last 14 months. On August 12, a 3-year-old
boy was injured and knocked unconscious after falling from a Titanic ride at a
fair in Scotland. On July 28, five people were injured when a Titanic ride
collapsed at a fair in Salem, Oregon. On May 21, nine children were injured
after a Titanic ride collapsed at a carnival in Charlotte, North Carolina. On
May 20, three children were injured after a Titanic ride collapsed at a fair in
Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. On June 2, 2000, five people were injured after a
Titanic ride collapsed at a carnival at in Alberta, Canada.
Another inflatable ride collapses; 5 injured
(Saturday, July 28, 2001) - At a fair in Salem, Oregon, five
people were injured when an inflatable slide called the Titanic collapsed.
Police say that the ride's operator, Butler Amusements of Fairfield, California,
did not properly anchor the ride to the ground.
Another inflatable ride collapses; 3 children injured
(Sunday, May 20, 2001) - In Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, three
children were injured when an inflatable ride called the Titanic collapsed.
The Nova Scotia Department of
Labor is investigating.
Boy injured on Titanic inflatable
(Sunday,
August 12, 2001) - At a fair in Scotland, a 3-year-old boy was injured and
knocked unconscious after falling about four feet from an inflatable slide
called the Titanic. The owner of the ride says that the child fell from a chute
and "bounced awkwardly." The boy was taken to a local hospital where he was
treated for back injuries and released.
Another inflatable ride collapses; 12 children injured
(Thursday,
August 8, 2002) - In Brooklyn, New York, as many as 12 children were injured
when an inflatable slide collapsed without warning. Some witnesses say that a
gust of wind tipped the slide over, spilling the children onto the ground.
The accident happened at a day camp
for children. Six children were taken to local hospitals, but none of them was
seriously injured.
Employees of the company which owns
the ride later packed up the ride and left town, refusing to answer reporters'
questions.
Local police are investigating.
Three people shocked while waiting in line for ride at carnival
(June 8, 2013) - At a carnival in Bellaire, Ohio, three people were shocked when
an electrical wire came loose and touched the metal guardrail that surrounded
the ride, according to witnesses. Two victims were treated at hospitals and
released, but the third victim, an 8-year-old boy, remained hospitalized in
critical condition. He was leaning on the guardrail at the time of the accident.
The carnival was operated by Desher Amusement.
Water slide collapse injures 15
(August 21, 2012) - Fifteen people suffered various injuries when a water slide
collapsed at Nicco Park in Calcutta, India. The ride is designed for a maximum
load of two people. Park officials said that the victims, who were mostly
students, ignored warnings and overloaded the slide.
Six of the riders suffered serious injuries, including broken legs, arms, and
shoulders.
NO DEFENSE: AMUSEMENT INDUSTRY'S "SAFETY MAN OF THE CENTURY" PLEADS GUILTY IN
TEXAS HIMALAYA DEATH
(Friday,
May 11, 2001) - On behalf of his company Bob G. Gill and Associates, Bob Gill
has pled guilty to manslaughter charges which resulted from the 1998 Texas
Himalaya fatality at the Austin-Travis County Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Fifteen-year-old Leslie Lane was killed while riding the Himalaya, which was
owned and operated by B&B Amusements of Yuma, Arizona. Her safety bar broke off
her car at every point of attachment. She was thrown from her seat into a wall
and killed. The Himalaya had been inspected by Gill's company just ten days
earlier.
An Austin,
Texas court accepted Gill's plea, and fined his company $30,000. In addition,
Gill pleaded guilty on his own behalf to a misdemeanor charge and was fined
$100.
When Gill
inspected the Himalaya ride on March 9, 1998, he found that four of the ride's
cars had broken locking mechanisms and another car had a broken seat. He ordered
that those cars not be used, but allowed the ride to open.
Lane's
safety bar broke on March 19, 1998, the same day that three other passengers
reported another broken safety bar after they had ridden in another car. In
addition, police investigators found two other cars on the ride with no locking
devices on them at all. They also witnessed three more locking devices break off
of cars when they went to operate the ride after the accident to test speeds.
For a complete description of the condition of the Himalaya, click here.
Gill remains
a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Amusement Ride
Safety Officials and was given the organization's "Man of the Century" award
last year for his "dedication to ride safety."
Gill's
company is no longer in business.
Gill is now
employed by Farrow Shows of Jackson, Mississippi.
B&B
Amusements, which also pled guilty to manslaughter charges late last year, still
operates amusement rides.

The law . . .
The Safety manual is required by State Law to be with you whenever you
supervise! We do have a copy attached inside a plastic folder on EVERY
inflatable blower, so if you need one or an inspector needs to see one get it
from there. At public rentals we prefer you to have the hard binder version but
the blower version has the essential information if you forget it.
According to a recent meeting with the governing body for inflatables :
Question: PLEASE CLARIFY THE DOCUMENTS THAT HAVE TO BE ON AN EVENT SITE.
The director
Answered:
YOU WILL NEED:
-
OPERATIONS MANUALS
-
SET UP INSTRUCTIONS
-
MAINTENANCE LOGS
-
TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS
-
PRE OPERATIONS INSPECTION REPORTS
[Walk-around]
Make sure you have your manual and that
it is up-to-date!
You can print out the certificate above and fill in your portion and then
bring it to us to initial and sign. It becomes part of your manual, which you
put together from the training materials. We have some manuals already printed
which you can use until you put your own manual together. You will also need to
get certified with the food machines too.
New Jersey considering additional amusement ride regulations
(Wednesday,
May 10, 2000) - The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs is working with
state legislators on proposed amusement ride regulations which would require
that ride manufacturers seek state approval for designs for rides which would
operate in the state, and increase the maximum fine for operators who are found
to be in violation of state regulations from $5,000 to $50,000.
The action comes at least partly in response to last year's fatal
accident at Gillian's Wonderland Pier in Ocean City, New Jersey, which killed a
woman and her 8-year-old child. The two were killed while riding the park's Wild
Wonder roller coaster. Investigators concluded that the accident was caused by
faulty brake parts.
William Connolly, the director of the New Jersey Division of Codes and
Standards, suggested that the state might have been able to prevent the Ocean
City accident, had the design for the Wild Wonder been submitted for approval.
Connolly also says that, while independent reviews of ride designs pose no harm
to manufacturers or operators, they could greatly benefit consumers.
"Right now, the fox is watching the henhouse... and while most manufacturers
are as honest as the day is long, people make mistakes, and as you raise the
risk level of the ride, it warrants an independent review," Connolly told New
Jersey's Asbury Park Press.
New Jersey has been successful in reducing the number of serious accidents on
amusement rides since 1998, when it stiffened fines for operators who violate
safety regulations or fail to report accidents to the state. Since the new law
took effect, there has been a 50% decline in the number of serious amusement
ride accidents in the state of New Jersey.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that the number of
injuries resulting from amusement ride accidents n nationwide has increased 87%
since 1994. Currently, amusement parks are exempt from federal regulation.
John Graff, the executive director of the International Association of
Amusement Parks and Attractions, told New Jersey's Asbury Park Press that he
questions the need for new regulations, and that he sees the proposal as just
another level of bureaucracy.
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, supports the proposal.

Teen dies after accident on inflatable ride
(Wednesday,
May 31, 2000) - A 19-year-old man died from head injuries he sustained in a fall
from a Rocky Mountain inflatable amusement attraction. The accident happened
Saturday at the Famous Players Coliseum movie theater in Ottawa, Ontario,
Canada. The Rocky Mountain, manufactured by Airbounce Amusements, was being used
by the theater to promote a new movie. The victim was a theater employee.
The attraction inflates to a height
of 25 feet. Climbers are harnessed and use a rope climbing system as they
attempt to ascend to the top of the attraction.
The victim was attached to a safety
harness and a rope, neither of which stopped his fall.
A spokesman for Airbounce Amusements
says that the ride was in perfect operating condition and denies any
responsibility for the accident.
The Ottawa-Carleton police
department has seized the ride. Police officials, the Ministry of Labor, and the
Technical Standards and Safety Authority are investigating.

children were injured when an inflatable ride called the Titanic collapsed.
The Nova Scotia Department of
Labor is investigating.
North Carolina slide was uninspected and overloaded, says state
(Friday, May
25, 2001) - Investigators from the North Carolina Department of Labor say that
an inflatable slide that tipped over on Monday at a carnival in Charlotte was
overloaded with children. They also say that the ride's owner, Master Rental of
Asheville, North Carolina, violated state law by not filing a notice of
insurance on the ride with the state, by not informing the state that the ride
would be set up, and by not filing documentation as to whether employees had
been properly trained to supervise the ride.
Nine children were injured when the
ride collapsed, none seriously.
In an interview with the Charlotte
Observer, the owner of Master Rental says that he was unaware that his equipment
was regulated by the state of North Carolina. He also refused to disclose how
long his company has been operating in Asheville.
"We're complying with authorities. I
can't say anything else."
Report: at
least 14 Titanic inflatable slides have collapsed
(Wednesday,
November 26, 2003) - In Waterloo, Iowa, a court case began involving the parents
of a 7-year-old girl who was injured in an accident involving a Titanic
inflatable slide. She fell 25 feet and landed on cement when the slide, operated
by Midwest Amusements of Minnesota, collapsed. The accident happened at
Waterloo's National Cattle Congress fair in 2002.
The lawsuit alleges that the
operator failed to follow safety instructions for the ride, and that the ride
attendant allowed six people on board when the maximum capacity was only four.
It also claims that the ride had started to tip hours earlier, and the attendant
had grabbed the ride to keep it from toppling. The attorney representing the
family claims that Midwest Amusements did not get a copy of the ride's manual
and did not know how to properly set up the ride. He said the instruction book
warned of catastrophic failure if the ride was overloaded, and that the warning
featured an illustration of people falling from the ride.
Midwest Amusements said the
inflatable slide passed a state inspection before the fair, and that they had no
reason to suspect it would collapse. The defense attorney representing Midwest
says the company had used the slide for two years without any problems.
Reports cited by the plaintiffs'
attorney show that at least 14 inflatable slides with the Titanic design have
collapsed in recent years.
Another inflatable ride mishap; 2 injured
(Sunday,
September 21, 2003) - Two children were injured when a gust of wind tipped over
an inflatable castle they were jumping in. The accident happened in the Southern
Highlands, New South Wales, Australia.
One of the victims, a 7-year-old
boy, suffered a bloody nose and the other victim, the boy's 4-year-old sister,
suffered an injured shoulder.
The gust of wind reportedly lifted
all of the ride's stability pegs out of the ground, then tipped it over. Several
other children who were on the ride were not injured.
The children were given first aid on
the scene by workers who had been setting up a display on how to stay safe in
wind and thunder storms. The display was part of "Storm Safe Week."
7-year-old flung from water slide
(August 5, 2012) - A 7-year-old boy was seriously injured in a water slide
accident in Bad Goisern, Austria. Witnesses said it appeared the boy was
traveling so fast that he slid up and over the edge of the slide as he was
passing through a steep curve. He fell about twelve feet to the ground.
The boy was airlifted to a hospital where he was to receive treatment for
stomach injuries, a skull fracture, and bleeding of the brain.

We tip share! |
- We learned from the restaurant industry, it
takes a team to make a good impression. Unless you loaded the vehicle, drove the
vehicle, set-up the unit, supervised, took down the unit and returned it to our
warehouse by yourself, other team members helped you and they deserve a fair
share of the tip the team received. We divide by 'units' to determine fair
share. Divide by the total 'units' to get the number of shares and then 'dish'
it out. If two people 'set-up, but one person supervised for 3 hours and the
same person took it down then one person gets 5 units or shares and the other
person only the one unit/share for the setup. In this example a $30.00 tip would
be $25.00 to the person who setup, took down and supervised with the $5.00 going
to the person who only set up.
- You don't need to tip share with Mr. or Mrs.
Henderson, although you should know that the moment Mr. Henderson (or Mrs.
Henderson) does any physical work you are not doing your job correctly! You are
either working too slow or not efficiently. Drivers are supposed to stay with
the vehicle after the contract is signed and placement of the rented units have
been decided. We hired you because we believe in you!

test prior to first working interview;
•Supervision Exam (Required prior to first day)

on the first three levels (each level) and $.10-$.20 or the fourth level for a
total of $.20 to $0.50 for the completed series. This will bring the employee up
to a maximum of $10.00 per hour and enable the ‘working interviewee’ to become a
regular member of the staff. The title changes from ‘working interviewee’ to
‘Qualified Party Operator’ or QPO (up to $10/hr.) after all exams and practicals
are completed.
All working interview staff
candidates must complete the online training in four categories as
follows;
1.) Supervision (how to supervise our units.)
2.) Standard Operating Procedures (understanding checklist items.)
3.) Policies (what to wear, where to meet, how we do things.)
4.) Carnival Games (how we play games with kids.)
This gives you the basics to then get on the job training and practical tests,
with opportunities to demonstrate you know how to do what you were taught in the
training.
When you complete both the online training and the Practical tests you will
then be a Qualified Party Operator. In New Jersey law this is also a 'Qualified
Person' (QP) for our industry. This will bring staff pay from $7.00 per hour up
to a maximum of $10.00 per hour as you train and pass practical tests so YOU
determine how much money you make per hour!. This will also enable you to start
training at the next level of staff advancement. All training is required to be
documented and a copy retained by the employee and in the office, but training
is not valid and is void if any documentation is missing.
Qualified Party Operator or QPO
can begin training for
Manufacturer Trained Operator or MTO (pay rate up to $15.00 per hour)
• General industry Exam. (MoonWalks, Slides, Obstacle Courses, Combo Units,

All regular staff must have

8.) Additional company policies
Observed practical testing is required for this level per type and per
manufacturer for each item we own in several different venues; including private
party, semi-private party, semi-public event, and public event. Successful
completion of this level brings staff salary from $10.00 to $14.00 per hour and
earns the title of Manufacturer Trained Party Operator.. In NJ law this is also
a 'Maintenance Technician' (MT.) Again training must be fully documented and
kept on file by both the staff person and the office or it is not valid and
would be void.
Manufacturer Trained Party Operator.

has required you to take the training program and you do in fact pass the
program/exams.

staff as only RCMT can train other staff and sign off on the practical exams.

(standard) training costs if you pass the course. All staff should have this
training.

special self defense class for all staff. It is not a martial arts class, there
is no 'work out' but it does provide very specific self defense. Body guards,
and law enforcement use these techniques. Look for more info on this soon.
GPS
We have found GPS is very
helpful, like having a cell phone while you travel. We will provide a GPS unit
to select staff to use while working with us. The GPS unit needs to be returned
and if lost or damaged would need to be replaced. We are working on the
criteria for which staff would get to use the GPS. At this point it will be for
staff who use their personal cars for OUR advantage, example: driving other
staff from place to place, or to transport our products.
OABA
We will provide membership in this professional organization if you attend a
National or International training program. We will pay for 1/2 of the
membership fee if you want to be a member for the local training benefits,
scholarship opportunities, and 10,000.00 life insurance policy.

promise that you will not 'compete' with us in this way. This is called a 'non
compete' agreement. You may not work for us unless you agree to this
'non-compete' contract. This would cover a two year period after leaving our
company and only be for the distance of a 45 minute travel (non seasonal travel
time) area around our warehouse at 216 Tingley lane, Edison NJ 08820. |
